About the Course
Ischemic heart disease (IHD) has been identified as one of the leading causes of death by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2012. In Malaysia, coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of mortality, accounting for 20-25% of all deaths in public hospitals. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is a clinical spectrum of ischemic heart disease ranging from unstable angina, non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) to ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
Records in Ministry of Health hospitals indicate that circulatory diseases account for 7% of total hospital admissions and 23.34% of all hospital deaths in 2014. Amongst the common risk factors, a prospective study concluded that 39.8% of adults in the country have diabetes mellitus, 66.1% have hypertension and 40.4% with dyslipidemia. From an ethnicity point of view, Malays had higher body mass index (BMI), Chinese had higher prevalence of hypertension and hyperlipidemia, while Indians had higher rates of diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia.
Test your knowledge on Angina which will be discussed via a case-based scenario.
Instructions
The goals of continuing professional development (CPD) and medical education are to acquire and retain knowledge that will enhance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. The following self-assessment survey is offered for CPD credit and is designed to test your current knowledge and skills related to managing patients who present with similar case scenarios.
Kindly note that this educational activity has no videos (lessons), only quizzes followed by answers and related explanations. The related explanation at the end of every question is part of the learning process. You may attempt as many times, but only the highest score will be captured.
Participants must complete the quiz with a minimum score of 80% to obtain 1 CPD point. Upon successfully completing the course, kindly forward the e-certificate to MPS.
